Our web 3D work & Second Life activity
The Web 3D and Virtual World Lab undertakes research and development activities in the area of Web 3D applications. Approaches are currently
focused on the use of Web 3D as a knowledge exchange and learning and teaching medium, its application for heritage visualisation and digital interpretation, the potential for
Web 3D applications to support digital inclusion of older socially
isolated people alongside its innovative application in the low carbon economy. The Institute has successfully been collaborating in this field
across sectors with local and national partners, peer Institutes and Universities; and research funding bodies (National and European).
We’ve been building web 3D virtual environments for both our clients & the University of Wales, Newport since 2009 & our acheivements include
historical re-creations of important areas within south Wales & a fully grown Second Life island. Details of all these can be explored in more detail »
